Humidity=extra curly hair

Yesterday it was so humid in the house that it made Brielle's hair extra curly! We ended up having to turn on the a/c to get the humidity out.

Corn on the Cob

This was the first time Brielle has had corn on the cob. As you can see, she really enjoyed it!

Paige's Science Experiment

Today, it was Paige's turn to present a science experiment to her class. The name of her experiment was "Do oil and water mix?". Since Chris was at school, he was able to watch her do it. As you can see, she did a really good job.

Franks for Fathers

Today, Chris spent the day at school with Cade for "Franks for Fathers". If you remember, a few weeks ago, I spent the morning at "Muffins for Moms", but the fathers got a whole day instead of just a morning! They made a kite together, played games in the gym, had franks for lunch, and much more. Since it was raining, they weren't able to fly their kites, but had a lot of fun in the gym. Chris said he and a bunch of other fathers/grandpas worked up a sweat!

Elementary Track Meet

Cade and Paige had their track meet last Wednesday. They're still waiting to hear the final results, but we do know that Paige placed 2nd in all her running events. They should find out on Tues. or Wed. if they placed in any other events. They had a fun day, and the weather was perfect!

Keeping Busy Outside

Last week, the weather was so gorgeous out, that the kids spent a lot of time outdoors. Here are some pictures of what a typical evening looked like. Camden and Brielle like to play on or by the playset, and Cade and Paige usually play a baseball or kickball game outside with their friends.

Paige is Student of the Month for May

Paige was once again nominated for "Student of the Month" for May by her teacher, Mrs. Ohm. She was pretty proud of herself, as were we!

Our 3 "Clean" Vehicles

It was kinda funny...I was getting pictures off our camera and found some pictures of our vehicles that Chris must have taken for whatever reason. I thought it was funny, so I decided to post one of the pictures. Here's our clean vehicles all lined up! (Maybe Chris thought he'd better take a picture of all the hard work he put in cleaning them??)

Marketplace for Kids

Today, NDSCS hosted Marketplace for Kids (www.marketplaceforkids.org) that Cade attended. Marketplace for kids is an educational program that offers encouragement for young entrepreneurs. There were over 700 students there from surrounding schools! Chris was able to take this picture of Cade displaying his "Save on Titanium Sports Necklaces" project. Cade said he had a fun day! Tomorrow, both he and Paige get to go to the RedHawks game for meeting their reading goals!

Cade decides on 5th grade band instrument

Cade has decided that he wants to play the trombone next year for 5th grade band. We had originally thought the trumpet, but after trying out some different instruments, he (and 2 different band teachers) thought he was best suited for the trombone. We all feel this is the right decision for him. Now we just need to purchase a trombone!
**UPDATE: I bought a trombone from one of my students in Campbell for only $50! What a bargain!!!**

Here is Cade trying out the trombone.

Muffins for Moms Day at School

Yesterday at school, the 4th grade classes put on a program called "Muffins for Moms". Moms were invited to come in and have muffins and juice with their children. The 4th graders also each recited a poem they wrote for their moms. We also did some activities and received some gifts. Cade gave me a handpainted clay flowerpot he planted flowers in as well as some "coupons" such as "Good for 1 free sweep the floor". It was a fun morning!

Cade recited his poem:

"My Mom"

My mom is funny.

My mom is cool.

My mom loves me,

And I love her.
