Weekend at Grandma's

The kids spent the weekend with Grandma Cathy and Dale so Chris and I could get some needed projects done around the house. It was SO nice having time to get things done and to have such a quiet house! The kids had fun on the inflatable water slide and pool. Here Camden is giving Brielle a ride around the yard. Thanks SO much Grandma Cathy and Dale!! We really appreciate having some time to ourselves because it doesn't happen very often.

Broken Finger

On Saturday, Cade slammed his finger in the door with the help of the strong wind. The next day, it was swollen and bruised, so we put a temporary splint on it. I took him to the doctor today, and they did and X-ray and found a fracture. He will need to keep it in a splint for a few weeks. He has his first baseball game tomorrow night, so I'm not sure how he'll do with a broken finger. The doctor said that his growth plate was unaffected, which was good. He said that it should heal just fine. Let's hope we don't have any more broken bones!

Outside Activities on Sunday Afternoon

We sure enjoyed the nice day today! I was able to get to the greenhouse and got some flowers and garden vegetables bought. Chris tilled the garden and transplanted my rhubarb plants. I also went down from 6 to only 2 rhubarb plants. I think that will be plenty for us. He also got my flowers planted in my pots, so hopefully the weather will stay as predicted for the rest of May...nice and warm!

Home Health?!?

As you know, Camden had tear duct surgery with tubes/stents placed about 6 weeks ago. Well, on Sunday, he was in his room and started crying and when I went in, I found his tube hanging out of his eye! Yikes! After making some phone calls, we were told to tape it to his cheek and call his eye doctor's office in the morning. Camden was really good about leaving it alone. In the morning, Chris was able to get him in to see his doctor in Fergus since his doctor is in Fergus on Mondays. His doctor wasn't quite sure how to remove it, so he had to call down to the cities and talk to the surgeon. Since the doctor couldn't see it through Camden's nose, he had to remove it through his eye. Basically, he cut the tube and pulled it out....eek! He showed Chris what to do in case it happened to the other eye. Sure enough, this morning, Camden had the other tube hanging out of his eye, so Chris got a tweezers and little scissors, he found which tube was in the bottom tear duct, cut the tube, and pulled it out! Camden was a trooper and did a great job during both tube removals! The tubes were supposed to be in for 3 months but only made it to 6 weeks. The surgeon said he hopes it was enough time. I guess time will tell. We are thinking that the dissolvable stitch that was put in each one had dissolved and that is why it was easy for the tube to come out. I've always teased Chris that he should have become a nurse after he was my main "nurse" when I was on bedrest when I was pregnant with Cade. And, now he performed a little surgery at home. Such a skilled health care worker!! :)
